Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that all participants in ProSocial Netball League enjoy a safe, respectful, inclusive, and fair sporting environment. By joining the league, all players, coaches, officials and spectators agree to abide by this Code.

2. Core Values

• Professionalism – Demonstrate respect, fairness, and integrity in all interactions, on and off the court.
• Inclusion – Ensure that everyone feels welcome, valued, and able to participate fully.
• Excellence – Strive for high standards in preparation, performance, and conduct.
• Enjoyment – Foster a positive and fun sporting experience for all.

3. Expectations for Players

• Compete fairly, following the rules and respecting officials’ decisions.
• Represent your team and league with professionalism, both during games and in the wider community.
• Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and spectators with dignity and respect.
• Strive for personal excellence through preparation, effort, and teamwork.
• Avoid abusive, discriminatory, or offensive behaviour or language.
• Contribute to an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the game.

4. Expectations for Umpires

• Apply the rules with consistency, fairness, and professionalism.
• Treat all participants with respect and impartiality.
• Communicate decisions clearly and respectfully.
• Contribute to an environment of excellence by being well-prepared and attentive.
• Support enjoyment by helping to ensure games are played in a safe, positive atmosphere.

5. Expectations for Spectators

• Encourage and support all participants in a positive and respectful manner.
• Demonstrate professionalism by refraining from offensive or disruptive behaviour.
• Celebrate excellence in play, regardless of which team achieves it.
• Respect officials’ decisions and the efforts of all players.
• Promote enjoyment by creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

6. League Administrators

• Uphold and enforce this Code of Conduct consistently and fairly.
• Lead with professionalism in decision-making and communication.
• Ensure league policies and activities promote inclusion and accessibility.
• Strive for excellence in the organization and delivery of all league operations.
• Foster enjoyment by maintaining a positive, safe, and engaging environment.

7. Unacceptable Behaviour

Breaches of this Code include but are not limited to:

• Violence or threats of violence.
• Harassment, bullying, or discrimination (verbal, physical, or online).
• Abuse of officials, players, or spectators.
• Deliberate cheating, match-fixing, or corruption.
• Substance misuse in connection with league activities.
• Any other conduct that brings the league into disrepute.

8. Enforcement and Disciplinary Action

• Breaches of this Code will be reviewed by the League Disciplinary Committee.
• Sanctions may include warnings, suspensions, fines, removal from games, or permanent expulsion.
• Appeals may be submitted in writing to the League Disciplinary Committee.

9. Agreement

By registering with ProSocial Netball League, all participants, coaches, officials, and spectators agree to uphold the values of Professionalism, Inclusion, Excellence, and Enjoyment and to abide by this Code of Conduct.
