Terms and Conditions

Last updated: January 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions apply to all participants, teams, umpires, and spectators involved in ProSocial Netball League ("the League"). By registering for or participating in the League, all individuals agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions and the Code of Conduct.

ProSocial Netball League aims to provide a fun, socially positive, inclusive, and safe sporting environment that promotes respect, teamwork, and community for players of all genders, identities, backgrounds, and abilities.

2. Eligibility

  • Participants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Mixed-gender participation is mandatory; teams must make reasonable efforts to maintain gender balance on court, with a minimum of one, and a maximum of four non-female participants playing at any given time. When a team has four non-females playing, two will need to be playing in midcourt, as any combination of WA/C/WD, with one each in GS/GA and GD/GK.
  • All Players must be registered to the league before participating in any match. This applies to any fill-ins from outside the league. Fielding unregistered players for a game could result in points deductions for that game.
  • Teams must ensure that player information is accurate and up to date.

3. Registration and Fees

  • All registration fees must be paid by the deadline set by the League.
  • A non-refundable deposit will be required to secure a team's space in the League, with the balance being due before the first game of the season
  • Fees are non-refundable except where the League cancels the season.
  • Team’s payments are to be made in one lump sum by the team captain by the due date. Failure to pay the balance may result in your team losing its place in the league, and your deposit being retained by ProSocial Netball League.

4. Fixtures and Scheduling

  • Fixtures will be released prior to the start of the season.
  • The League reserves the right to amend fixtures (e.g. due to venue issues, weather, staffing needs), with reasonable notice provided.
  • Teams are responsible for arriving on time and being prepared to play.

5. Cancellations and Forfeits

Teams must provide at least 48 hours notice if they cannot field a team for a fixture. This will give the League time to find an alternative opposition for the team that will be left without a game. A fine of £75 will be payable by the forfeiting team if none of their players play the match. However, if a team sends at least one player, there will be no forfeit fee payable.

6. Safety and Insurance

  • Players participate at their own risk, and should arrange for their own insurance if they wish to be covered. The League does not provide insurance for players.
  • All players must wear appropriate sports attire and footwear with sufficient grip. League staff have absolute discretion in deciding whether a player’s clothing or footwear is appropriate.
  • In line with England Netball Rules, gloves should not be worn to play netball. The only exception to this is in the case of some medical conditions (with production of an appropriate medical certificate). Glove material should be plain and soft with no external seams or abrasive materials such as zips, velcro, or metallic/plastic fasteners.
  • Nails should be short and smooth at all times (even if gloves are worn). Nail clippers may be available to use, but players should arrive for games with their nails already short and smooth. Tape may not be used to cover nails.
  • We adopt a common-sense approach to jewellery. If it is sharp, or sticking out, it must be removed. However, piercings that are deemed ‘internal’ including tongue, inner ear (daith), and septum (excluding hoops) may be kept in, at the discretion of the umpires. We do not accept that piercings cannot be removed. All watches, rings, bracelets and necklaces must be removed as well, with the exception of religious adornments, which can be taped over, as long as they are flat and cannot be considered to be harmful to the wearer, or others.
  • Some basic first aid supplies are available for injuries to participants caused through play, although we do not provide medical assistance. Any medical assistance or advice given is provided on a voluntary basis with the assumed consent of the injured person.
  • There is no additional time played in the event of an injury.
  • The League is not responsible for personal injury or loss of personal property unless caused by negligence.
  • Pregnancy: We follow England Netball recommendation that pregnant individuals should only participate with approval from their doctor and not participate beyond the 12th week of pregnancy. The League will not be held liable for any pregnant individual or their unborn child coming to any harm through participation in our leagues.

7. Umpiring and Rules of Play

  • Matches will be played according to standard Europe Netball rules, as of the September 2024 update.
  • The League will only have C-Award or higher qualified umpires, always.
  • The League will not tolerate backchat, derogatory comments or abusive language towards League staff, umpires, participants or spectators.
  • Umpire’s decisions are always final. Any questions or queries may only be clarified during match breaks. If you do not comply with this expectation, umpires can use whatever sanction they see fit, including your removal from the court for the rest of the game.

8. Discipline and Sanctions

The League may issue warnings, suspensions, or bans for breaches of the Terms and Conditions or Code of Conduct. Sanctionable behaviour includes (but is not limited to):

  • Harassment or discrimination.
  • Excessive aggression or dangerous play.
  • Verbal or physical abuse.
  • Repeated last-minute cancellations.
